Here are your top picks for the Listener Survey question “What is your favorite animated film?” In all, 88 different titles were chosen as someone’s favorite film and 33 people couldn’t decide.

EDIT: WOW, what a huge oversight – I skipped Beauty and the Beast in the results. You’ll now find it at it’s rightful place, tied with Jungle Book for the number 3 spot. THANKS EMMA!

There’s a link in the sidebar to sign up for email updates. I’m wondering if the people who added their email actually got a notification of the latest podcast. If you did or didn’t, could you please let me know. Everyone doesn’t have to reply, naturally, but I’d like to hear from at least a handful of people to know if it’s working. Thanks.

Why don’t you take the listener survey? This isn’t some big marketing strategy. I’m just curious about who listens to the show. It shouldn’t take more than five minutes, unless you have to stop and think about who your favorite character is. Nothing personal either, just a handful of easy questions. I’d really appreciate it. Think of it as your way to give back to the show that keeps on giving.

Speaking of shows, there WILL be a new show on the site around Sunday night/Monday morning, so be sure to check back for that. I promise, you will not want to miss it. And don’t ask who it is. I won’t give.

A new way to leave your feedback

There’s a very nice addition to the feedback options that may be of use to some of you, especially the overseas listeners: It’s the ~~pink balloon~~ link in the sidebar that says ‘Send me a voice message.’ ~~(I may will update that in the future with my own image.)~~ If you’ve got a computer with a mic, you can record right there, no need to call a phone number, AND the audio quality should be much clearer than the phone messages. You also get to review it before sending, so if you sound like a goof (which isn’t a bad thing for the show) you can start over. Good for all of us, aight? I think the only requirements are a mic on your end (duh) and flash installed for your browser. Give it a shot, if for no other reason than for helping me test it out.

While I’m on the subject of feedback, I’d like to extend a GREAT BIG THANKS to everyone who’s been commenting here on the site, as well as to the handful of people who gave some nice reviews in iTunes. And I can’t forget those of you who still vote on Podcast Alley. That’s is always appreciated since Podcast Alley is a pretty good gauge of what podcasts people like. It’s all appreciated mucho, mucho, and keeps my tank full for the podcast road ahead. By the way, the next stop will be pretty sweet!

All right, with a new month, Podcast Alley has reset the votes so it’s time to give a little love back to The Animation Podcast. I’ve decided not to take time during the shows to ask you to vote, but there’s no shame in my game so you’ll be seeing this humble reminder once a month and that’s it. If you enjoy the shows, a vote is all I ask in return. Like I’ve said before, consider it a recommendation so that more people might see it in the rankings and come our way.

What’s up after three days?

I posted Show 1 on May 1 and the response has been overwhelming. By the end of Tuesday, I’ve had about 1100 first time visitors and over 2500 page loads. I don’t know how that relates to other sites, but for me it is definitely gratifying to see this level of interest in a project I’m so excited about.

Something I didn’t anticipate is the global reach of one website. It blows my mind to think that one day I can have a conversation and the next day it is heard in 61 countries. That was the most awesome thing ever. I had downloaded the show yesterday but hadn’t bothered listening to it, but since I was up doing some sketches today, I figured I needed something to while away the time. It was so wonderful and uplifting to hear about Mr. Deja’s background. Even living in Maryland, I sometimes feel that I’m pursuing an out-of-reach goal simply because I’m too far away.
On TV and in the magazines they always talk about the voice actors. Sometimes you get to hear from the directors. You never hear from the animators. This is truly a great thing you’re doing.
Can’t wait for the next show!

Also, I’d like to thank everyone who voted for The Animation Podcast at Podcast Alley. Even with 18 votes, I’m hovering at around 60 in the rankings. That’s very compelling, considering there are about 3,000 podcasts there. The show would get a lot more notice though if it broke into their top 50 list. Maybe then we could get some “non-animation” people excited about this artform we love. (pssssst…subtle hint: please go vote) Now to break into the top 10 would be a dream, but the current #10 is sitting pretty with 94 votes. If just 1% of the visitors to this site cast a vote, we’d blow that Star Trek show into deep space. I can dream can’t I? Set phasers to stun.

Many people have been wondering when the next show comes out. I’ll spill the beans and say it’s on the weekend. I know how frustrating it can be when you want a site to update and you keep coming back to find nothing new. (Kind of reminds me of when Seward Street went on vacation last month. I went mad with withdrawals.) I’m saying this so people don’t give up and write this off. There’s more, really.
